It was raining in the morning. Our plan was to take the ferry to Sorrento and have a self walking tour of Sorrento. The ferry ride was supposedly to be picturesque, however, we could not see anything on the way to Sorrento due to the rain.
After we got into the ferry port of Sorrento, we took a lift to reach the Giardini Public Gardens near the Old Town. We had a wonderful view of the Marina Piccola Beach. It is a different type of beach which is beneath Sorrento's Villa Comunale and next to the ferry port. There is a small strip of volcanic sand occupied by a number of beach clubs and a stretch of public beaches. Most of beach clubs have a small area of waterfront and sundeck over the water, where sun loungers and umbrellas are set up.
Once we were at Giardinin Public Gardens looking at the Marina Piccola Beach, then we realized that the last stop of our Amalfi Coast Tour in Sorrento was just a little bit east to this garden.
After we walked for several minutes, we got to the main street Corso Italia which is the main shopping street in Sorrento. The first thing we saw was Duomo di Sorrento (Cathedral).
Then we just walked along Corso Italia to see the whole Sorrento. We even got on the Sorrento City Wall for some photos.
Then we wondering around the Old Town for more souvenir shopping.
When we ready to get back to the ferry port, we decided to just walk down the cliff for more scenery and photo taking.
The sky cleared up when we were on our ferry ride back to Naples, however the scenery was just OK and nothing worth to mention.
Once we got back to Naples, we walked to Naples downtown to just take a look of the city. From our previous knowledge, Naples is just like Detroit and was not that interesting to us. However, since we were there and had some free time, we might just walk around to see it a little bit. We saw Castel Nuovo, Royal Palace of Naples, Piazza del Plebiscito, San Francesco di Paola, and Galleria Umberto II.
Galleria Umberto II was mentioned as a upscale shopping mall like the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan next to Duomo Milan. However, the selection of the stores in this mall has no comparison with the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. Therefore, it did not provide us any shopping excitement at all.
